
Ian Hawgood
b.1977
Ian started playing piano aged four despite being hearing impaired.
Aged ten he regained full hearing after various ear infections.
Living in Tokyo and London, his music focuses on location and movement,
heavily influenced by his childhood experiences.
As a traveller he records wherever he goes, using these recordings
to make much of his work.
He plays various organic instruments and likes to record on his four-track
tape, field recorder and computer whether at home or outside.
His recent recordings have taken him from pump organs and broken
pianos in America to violins, shamisen and koto in his favourite refurbished
shops in Japan. He currently records solo projects under his own name, as
well as Koen Park, Oh No Nuno! and Poco Meno.
